Dubrovnik, Croatia to Kotor, Montenegro (Montenegro Hostel 4U)

今日は晴れ！

It's a fine fine day!

宿のオーナー夫妻に別れを告げて、出発。この宿は本当に良かった。シーズン中は混み合うんだろうなぁ。

I said good-bye to the owners of the hostel and got going. This hostel was really nice. I think it will be packed during the season.

さて、先ずはモンテネグロ国境に向かうのだけれど、ミゲルが途中道からドブロブニクが良く見える、と言っていたから、晴れの今日は楽しみだ。

I was heading to the border to Montenegro, but on the way I would have chance to see great views of Dubrovnik, so Miguel said.

で、これがドブロブニク！

This is Dubrovnik!



そう、当にこの姿が見たかったのだよ。

This was the view exactly I imagined of Dubrovnik!



やはり、お天道様ってありがたいやね。

Luckily I could see it on such a good day!



これで満足してドブロブニクを後にできる。

Now I can leave Dubrovnik without any regret. Well, one regret I have actually is, I wasn't with someone I love!

モンテネグロまでの国境は50キロ足らず。

To the border, it was less than 50km.

今回はクロアチア側でちゃんと出国の手続きをしてから、モンテネグロ側へ。

This time I had to go through a proper passport control. Exiting out from Croatia first, then I entered Montenegro.

係官の人は愛想が良くて、「日本の車検証なんて見たことなかったよ！」、とビックリしていた。「保険はそこのオフィスで買えるから、買ったらパスポート渡すから行ってきなさい」、と。

The officer at the Montenegro immigration, he was quite friendly. He was surprised to see the Japanese registration document! He told me where to get a green card for Montenegro. The passport was held till I returned with the green card.

保険は15日間で10ユーロ。ついでに余ったクロアチア・クナをユーロに両替。そう、ここモンテネグロはEUに入ってないのにユーロを使っているのだ。

The minimum cover was 15days and it cost €15. I also exchanged rest of Kunas to Euros. Yes in Montenegro. Euro is used as the currency, even though Montenegro isn't a member of EU.



まぁ、小国だから自国通貨を発行するよりは良いのかも。

Well, it's a small nation, so it would be easier and more economical not to have the own currency.

無事にパスポートを受取り、58ヶ国目モンテネグロに入国！

I got back the passport and entered Montenegro! The 58th country I've visited on this trip.

国境を越えてしばらく走り、ガソリンスタンドの駐車場で手持ちのオイルをエンジンに足す。3,000キロ走って300mlくらい消費した模様。これはボクサーエンジンの宿命みたいなものだね。

After crossing the border, I found a petrol station with the levelled ground. There I checked the level of the engine oil and I topped up 300ml. I made 3,000km since the last oil change, so it consumed 100ml per 1,000km. It is the characteristic of the boxer engine.

さて、コトルを目指す。高速道路ではないため、時速60キロくらいで走る。

湖(？)の畔を走りなかなか気持ちがよい。



コトル手前にペラストという街があって、そこも中々風光明媚。



湖に浮かぶ島に教会があったり。しかも二つ。



で、コトルに到着！100キロも走ってないのに既に1時半。

Then I arrived Kotor. I rode less than 100km today but it was already 1:30pm. It was much later than I expected.

なので、今日はここに一泊することに。何故かって？それはコトルの旧市街を満喫するため。

So I decided to stay a night here in Kotor. Why? It was still early, wasn't it? It's because I would like to spend a time to explore the old town of Kotor and it's fortress.

で、目星の宿があったんだけど、宿の人が居ない…。宿泊客なのか、住人なのか若い兄ちゃんたちが、「スタッフはあとで来るから、まぁ、荷物を置くなりしていいよ」と案内してくれた。

I came to the hostel where I checked on the web beforehand. But there wasn't any staff around. Instead, there were bunch of young guys in the building... One of the guys said the staff would come later, so I could drop my luggage there and wait for the staff or go to explore the old town.

まぁ、ここでいいか、な。エスペランサも駐車出来るし。

Ok, I decided to stay there as I could park Esperanza. The property wasn't in the best condition though.

サンドイッチを昼飯に食べて、さて行ってみよう！

I bought a sandwich at a bakery and went for the sightseeing.

このコトルという街は世界遺産に登録されている中世の街。

The old town of Kotor is registered in the World Heritage site. As Dubrovnik it maintains the medieval structures.

ドブロブニクよりも大分小さいけど、圧巻は、その砦。街の裏山の頂上まで長城を築いているのだ。写真でわかるかな？

It's much smaller than Dubrovnik, but it has a fortress at the hill behind the town. It looks little like the Great Wall of China. I hope you can see that from the photo.



城壁もなかなかの構。

The city wall looks pretty thick.

さて、正門から入ろう。

I went into the town from the main gate.



中は、まぁ、中世の街並み。

Inside the wall, it was the medieval town.



これはちょっと飽きてきたかな。

I am bored with the medieval town already...

で、砦に登って見よう。

So I went up to the fortress.

階段を上がるに連れ、旧市街、湖、向こうの山々が一望。取り敢えず写真でお楽しみ下さい。

As I climbed ip the stairs, the old town, the lake, and those mountains in a distance could be seen. It was quite a view.







絶景かな！

ライティング・ジャケットを羽織っていたから、汗だくになりながら登る。

As I was wearing the riding jacket, I was sweating a lot!

途中教会が在り、

There was a church in the middle of the hill.





頂上まではまだまだ先。

But I had to ascend much further...



梅が咲いている。

Some plum trees bloomed. They were pretty.



そしていよいよ頂上の砦に到着！

Then finally I was on the top of hill!









モンテネグロ国旗が誇らし気にはためいてる。

The national flag of Montenegro was proudly flying high!



登って来た甲斐がありましたな。

It was worth climbing up.





あ、降りも結構大変だ。

But I had to descend a long way too!

4時過ぎまでコトルを満喫。

I enjoyed exploring Kotor till 4pm or so.



思った以上に素晴らしかった、ここは。モンテネグロなんて何があるか全く知らなかったけど、古い街並みを保っている街が多く点在しているみたい。

I did not expect Kotor would be so good. I didn't know what Montenegro would offer. There are many towns like Kotor in Montenegro.

まだまだインフラが整っていないところもあるけど、アドリア海にも面しているし、観光地としてのポテンシャルは高い。

The country is still under construction in many ways, but it has Adriatic Sea and those historical towns, it will be a popular tourist destination in the near future.

さて、明日は何処まで行くかな。アルバニアはあんまり面白そうな所もないし、ギリシアまで走れたら走ってしまおうかな。

I am thinking how far I will ride tomorrow. Albania seems to me not interesting, so if I could, I will ride to Greece.
