Day 950: 2013年4月1日
Athens, Greece (Camping Athens)
87,491km to 87,507km = 16km
今日は4月1日。エイプリル・フールですが、いつもの通り真面目に書きます。
朝から快晴！観光日和ですな。
朝からお隣のHa夫妻に珈琲やゆで卵、リンゴなどをご馳走に。
夫妻は今日デルフィに出立とのこと。良い旅を！
もしかしたら韓国で再会できるかも。
さて、市内観光だ。
バスと電車を乗り継いでアクロポリスまで。
アテネでは1.40ユーロで90分間公共交通乗り放題なのだ。
地下鉄も近代的。
アクロポリス周辺は昨日宿の下見に来ているからなんか馴染みがある。もちろん「超」ツーリスティック！
では、アクロポリスへ！
チケットは周辺の遺跡の入場も含めて12ユーロ。そんなに法外な値段でもない。
お、あれがパルテノン神殿だな。
歴史の授業で習ったのは何年前のことやら。
先ずは半円形の劇場がある。
このタイプの劇場は去年ローマやその他でみたなぁ。
空き地には花が鮮やかに咲いている。
アクロポリスは丘の上にあるから登っていく。
また、半円形劇場がある。ギリシア人は演劇好きだなぁ。
それにしても、修学旅行(?)の子供が多いな。ただでさえ観光地過ぎて雰囲気は台無しなんだけど、ここまでウルサイとかえって開き直れて良い。
アテネ市街が一望できる。
さて、ここが正門だな。
なかなか立派な構え。
ここが「ザ・古代ギリシア文明」だから、遺跡を見飽きたワシも少し興奮気味。
で、パルテノン神殿。うーん、改修中だから、足組とかクレーンが雰囲気をぶち壊し。
中学校の授業で聞いた話だと、19世紀末ごろまでパルテノン神殿はそんなに損傷も無かったそうな。
が、しかし、ギリシア独立戦争のさなか、ギリシア軍がチャック・ノリスの怒りを買いパルテノン神殿を回し蹴り一発で破壊したそうな…。恐るべしチャック・ノリス。
そんな被害を受けてもギリシアは独立を勝ち取った。
今ではギリシア国旗が誇らしげにはためいてる。
ま、最近経済状況はドン底だけど。
アテネ市街しはスラムもあり、また潰れた店がチラホラと見受けられる。
古代にこれだけの偉業を成し遂げたギリシア人。この難局に立ち向かえるのか？
あ、でも古代ギリシア人と現代ギリシア人は人種が違うみたいね。まぁ、血はついでいるのだろうけど、かなり混ざったね。
久しぶりに自分が写った写真を。
アクロポリスは流石古代ギリシアの都市国家の代表格アテネの中心地。
これは有名観光地になるな、ってくらい凄い。
あまり期待はしてなかったけど、期待以上に楽しめた。まぁ、コトルの方が好きだけど。
さて、次は古代広場(アゴラ)にいってみよう。
ここはローマ時代でも利用されていたみたい。
アクロポリスと違って遺跡、って感じが良い。
遠くに神殿が見えるから行ってみた。
なかなかの佇まい。
保存状態がパンテオンよりいい。
このひっそり感がいいねぇ。
陸亀もいる。
で、他にも遺跡を巡ったけど、どれも、まぁ、対したことない。
アクロポリスの遠景。
あ、そうだ、オリンピアのゼウス神殿は3時に閉まって入らなかった。
古代アテネ散策、見応えあった。観光地だけど、来て良かった。
あ、昼メシはギリシア風ケバブのイロス！これも美味い。
結構歩いて疲れたな。一旦宿にキャンプ場に戻り、夜に備える。
今日は昨日出会ったエレナの紹介でBMWクラブの面々と会うのだ！
会長のゲオルグさん、エレナの友人ポリティミさんと旦那さんのマノリスさん、ヨルゴスとコンスタンティノス。みんな良い人で、「もっとアテネに滞在すれば色々世話できたのに！」と。
残念ながら、保険の関係でEU諸国では急ぎ足なのだ。
エレナとの出会いのお陰で、また輪が広がった。また、戻ってくるよ！
そんなこんなで、てんこ盛りなアテネの一日であった。

さて、市内観光だ。

Kanali Beach to Athens, Greece (Camping Athens)
87,113km to 87,491km = 378km
朝起きたら、雲行きが怪しい。
It looked like going to be raining when I got up and saw the sky.
うーん、せっかく道をまたいだらビーチなんだけどなぁ。海は鉛色。
Actually the camp site was just in front of the beach, it would have been beautiful if it was sunny... The sea was in grey.
これは早く出発しないと降るな。
I had to leave soon, before it got raining.
雨具さえ着てしまえば、多少の雨は気にならない。
If I put on the rain jacket and pants, some rains would not be a problem.
が、しかし、雨が降ってきてからテントを撤収するのは大変なのだ。後で乾かすのに苦労するし。
But if it rained before I put away the tent, it would be bad... I would get wet and I would have to dry the tent later...
幸い雨が降る前に準備は整った。
I was ready before it start raining.
で、出発と前にメールをチェックしてiPodの時計を見たら9時!?
I checked e-mail before I left the camp site, and I saw the clock! It was 9am. 9am!??
あれ、まだ8時じゃないの？
I thought it was still 8am!
もしかしてデイライトセービング(サマータイム)か！
Ah, it must be the day light saving started.
なるほど、だから更に1時間進んだんだな。
That's why it was 1 hour ahead.
まぁ、人口的に1時間進もうが日暮れまでの時間は変わらないから関係ないけど。
Well, it wasn't really matter to me. Even though I lost 1hour artificially, I still have the same amount of time before the sen set.
さて、行きますか。
So I left the camp site.
ギリシアの道はアルバニアよりは良いけど、あまり良いとは言えない。
The road condition in Greece was better than in Albania, but it wasn't that good either.
海岸沿いを走る。でも、生憎の天気。たまに雨もチラホラ。
I was riding by the sea. But the weather spoiled the great scenery. It was raining a bit on the way.
ペトラ手前で大きな橋があって、それを越えるんだけど中々の見応え。残念ながら一時停車する場所がなかったから写真は撮れなかった。残念。
それから高速道路に入る。高速道路は有料で2.20ユーロ。
しばらく走り、ガソリンスタンドで昼メシ休憩。
ギリシア料理の代表格ソブラキ。これで1.5ユーロ。
食べ終わったら、バイクが一台入ってきた。
BMW F650GSだ。女性ライダーだな。
丁度エスペランサの横に停めたので、メシも食い終わったし、行って話しかけて見た。
彼女の名前はエレナ。地元ギリシア人。
ワシが日本から来た、と言うとビックリ！
で、アテネで良い宿ないか？、と訊ねると、「私は詳しくないけど、友達に電話してみる」、とわざわざ電話して訊いてくれた。
アテネの街中は案の定駐車場があるホテルはお高い万円だから、アテネ手前の街で探したほうがイイ、とのこと。
彼女は今年の夏オーストリアやドイツをバイクで旅する計画だとか。
Facebookを交換して、ワシは出発！エレナいろいろありがとうね！お互い良い旅を！
あとは高速道路をひた走る。
天気が良くないから風景もあんまり冴えない。
折角のギリシアなのに、本当に残念。
で、アテネに3時過ぎに到着。
結局モーテルらしきものは無く、とりあえずネットで探しておいた「Athens Backpackers」という宿まで。
「Car Parking」と書いてあったから、もしや、と思い。まぁ、大体こう書いてあっても路上駐車なんだけどね。アクロポリスに近いし。
で、行ってみたけど、やはり路上駐車だった。
でも、スタッフは親切で、近場のキャンプ場を見つけてくれた。
で、今日もキャンプ！
バスで市内まで出れるし。
ここで2泊するから、久しぶりに洗濯。そうそう、股引とヒートテックとその上に着ているジャージはフレッドの家を出た時から着続けているんだけど、その間一回も洗ってないのだ！
あーぁ、キレイになって気持ちいい！
ワシのテントのお隣さんは韓国人のHa夫妻。2ヶ月の予定でパリからレンタカーで旅してるとのこと。
コーヒーとお菓子をご馳走になり、色々話しているうちに日も暮れたのだった。
さて、明日は市内観光だ。アクロポリス、楽しみだな。

Day 948: 2013年3月30日
Berat, Albania to Kanali Beach, Greece (Camping Monolithi)
86,743km to 87,113km = 370km
今日は晴れ。
It was a fine day!
晴れたからベルナルドお勧めの海岸沿いのルートでギリシアまでいくか。
As the weather was good, I planned going through the southern coastal line to Greece.
スコットとエリザベスに別れを告げ10時過ぎに出発。(朝飯が9時以降でなと出ないため)
I left Berat after 10am after saying Good-bye to Elizabeth and Scott. Well the reason why I started that late was the breakfast wasn't served till 9am.
ベラトからヴロラまで行くのだけれど、道が悪い…。全然距離が稼げない。
The road condition from Berat to Vlora was pretty bad. It took a long time to move forward.
しかも風が強い。
It was windy too...
道が悪いから車もバスもトラックものろのろと穴ポコを避けて走るのだ。
Cars, truck and buses, everyone was driving slowly to avoid those pot holes on the road.
一時間半くらいそんな感じで走っていると、急に高速道路が現れる。ここでは時速100キロくらいで飛ばせるけど、たまに段差があるから注意しないといけない。
After 1hour and half of struggling, suddenly a nice motorway appeared. On the motorway, I could cruise at 100km/h, but I had to be careful as sometimes there were gaps on the surface...
アルバニアは今まで訪れたヨーロッパ諸国の中でも飛び抜けてインフラが整っていない。
Clearly Albania has the worst infrastructures in European countries I've visited.
ある点ではボリビアよりヒドイかも？、なんて思わせる。
I some cases, it could be worse than Bolivia, so I thought.
高速はヴロラの街手前で終わり、またガタガタ道。
The motorway ended before the town of Vlora, then the bad roads came back.
で、ヴロラを抜けてしばらく走ると海岸沿いに出る。
After while I came to the coastal line.
この道は比較的舗装状況は良好。
The road condition of this line was relatively good.
海を見ながら走るのは楽しいけど、ちょっとモヤがかかっている。
It was fun riding in the curves with the sea view! But it was smoggy a bit.
しばらく海岸沿いを走っていると、急に山を登って行く。ドンドン登って行く。
The road took me to the mountain pass. It went up higher and higher.
気温も下がりかなり標高が高くなっているのを感じる。
I felt sudden drops in the temp. It was quite high up.
で、峠は1,000メートル越え。
The highest point of the pass was more than 1,000m.
モヤがかかっているからあまりハッキリと見えないけどしたは海。
It was unclear with smog, but beneath the cliff, the sea was.
条件が整えば最高の眺めなんだろうなぁ。
If it was clear, the view must have been spectacular.
ここから降りに。
The I went down to the sea shore again.
途中ビーチなんか見えてきて、なかなか楽しい。
On the way, there was a great view of a beautiful beach.
でも、なんかモヤってるんだよねぇ。
But it was smoggy still.
海岸沿いをサランダという街まで走る。たまに穴ポコがあるから気を抜けないのだ。
I rode through the curves till Sarande. But there were some pot holes, I needed to ride with care all the time.
サランダから更に南へ。国境は近いのだけど、マイナーな道だから標識があまりハッキリしていない。
I rose further south from Sarande. The border to Greece was near, but as it was a minor route to Greece, the signs were not clear.
そうそう、ワシのGPSはアルバニアでは殆ど訳に立たないのだ。幹線道路のデータしかないのだ。
Well, my GPs was almost useless in Albania. The map data was so bad, it just had major routes of the country and no detail at all.
ガソリンスタンドでこの道であっているのか、と訊くと、どうやらあっているみたいだ。
I made a stop at a petrol station and filled up my tank. Then I asked the guy if I was on the right track to Greece. He said I was on.
30キロくらいで国境だけど、途中からダートになるらしい。
He said it would be another 30km or so to the border but some parts of the road wasn't paved.
アルバニア語全然わからないけど、身振り手振りでなんとかなるものだ。
I had no understanding of Albanian Language, but I managed to get the information I needed! Yeah!
しばらく走ると、艀があって渡るのに1ユーロ。目の前に砦？があってなかなかの風景。
I continued riding to south. There were some parts the roads were divided, but I followed my instinct and kept going. Then I came to a river crossing. There was a wooden ferry cost €1. There was a ruin of a fortress on the other shore and it made the scenery nicer.
果たしてガソリンスタンドのオジさんの言うとおりダートになった。
After crossing the river, the road became unpaved as the guy said.
しばらく走ると舗装路に出て、国境。
Then after while it connected to a beautifully paved road which lead to the border.

晴れの60ヶ国目！
This is the 60th country to visit on this RTW trip.
オドメーターも丁度87,000キロ！あ、写真撮り忘れた…。
The odometer of Esperanza was 87,000km exact! But I did not take a photo of it...
ギリシアに入ったのはもう5時手前。というかギリシアはGMT+2時間だからもう6時なのだ。
It was just before 5pm when I entered Greece. In fact Greece was 1 hour ahead of Albania, so it was 6pm!
日本はGMT+9時間だから1時間だけ君に近づいたよ。
Japan is GMT+9, so I am one hour closer to you.
さて、走るぞ！ギリシアの舗装はアルバニアのそれと段違い。
Ok, I gotta long ride ahead of me! The road condition of Greece was much better than that of Albania.
途中のモーテルにでも泊まろう、と思って走っていたけど、モーテルなんて無い。
I thought there were motels along the way, but I found none.
そうそう、今日はなかなか距離が稼げなかったのとアルバニア・レクを全部使ってしまったから昼飯も食べないでぶっ続けで走ってるのだ。
Actually I'd been riding without having lunch... I spent all Albanian Leks at a petrol station in the morning and I had to push to eat the mileage.
だんだんと日も暮れてきたし、そろそろ宿を見つけないと。
The sun was setting and getting darker. I had to find a place to stay.
で、走りながらGPSで宿を検索すると「Esperanza」というホテルが20キロ先にある。
While riding, I checked on the lodging info on my GPS (it works fine in Greece!), and found a hotel named "Esperanza" at some 20km away.
そこまで行って見た。なんかいいコトありそうだ!?
I went there as I thought it could be a good one '!
が、しかし、駐車場は無いし一泊35ユーロもするし。
But it did not have a parking space and it was expensive, €35 a night.
モーテルは無いし、ここら辺は海岸沿いだから、ビーチリゾート的な宿しか無い。だから高い。
There was no motel around. I was on the coast, so there were only beach resort type accommodations and they were expensive.
こうなりゃ、キャンプだな。幸い近くにキャンプ場があるから行ってみると、テントは9ユーロ！
Then I realised I could go to a camp site! It wasn't that cold any more! I found one nearby and it cost €9 for a tent site.
WiFiも使えるし。
There was WiFi too!
でも、まだシーズン始まってないから、トイレなどは掃除が行き届いてなくて…。まぁ、いいか。
But as it was before the season, those facilities weren't properly cleaned... Well, I could live with that.
で、夕飯はちょっと豪華に。ドリンク付きで8ユーロ。
As I did not have lunch, I had a good dinner. It was €8 including a drink.
まぁ、昼メシとこみかと思えばそんなに高くはない!?
Well, not too bad at all.
美味かったし！
It was yummy!
さて、今日は思いもかけずテント泊。テントで寝るのはフィンランド以来だなぁ。
I did not expect to camp in Greece, but I like camping anyway. Last time I camped was in Finland!

Berat, Albania to Kanali Beach, Greece (Camping Monolithi)
86,743km to 87,113km = 370km
今日は晴れ。
It was a fine day!
晴れたからベルナルドお勧めの海岸沿いのルートでギリシアまでいくか。
As the weather was good, I planned going through the southern coastal line to Greece.
スコットとエリザベスに別れを告げ10時過ぎに出発。(朝飯が9時以降でなと出ないため)
I left Berat after 10am after saying Good-bye to Elizabeth and Scott. Well the reason why I started that late was the breakfast wasn't served till 9am.
ベラトからヴロラまで行くのだけれど、道が悪い…。全然距離が稼げない。
The road condition from Berat to Vlora was pretty bad. It took a long time to move forward.
しかも風が強い。
It was windy too...
道が悪いから車もバスもトラックものろのろと穴ポコを避けて走るのだ。
Cars, truck and buses, everyone was driving slowly to avoid those pot holes on the road.
一時間半くらいそんな感じで走っていると、急に高速道路が現れる。ここでは時速100キロくらいで飛ばせるけど、たまに段差があるから注意しないといけない。
After 1hour and half of struggling, suddenly a nice motorway appeared. On the motorway, I could cruise at 100km/h, but I had to be careful as sometimes there were gaps on the surface...
アルバニアは今まで訪れたヨーロッパ諸国の中でも飛び抜けてインフラが整っていない。
Clearly Albania has the worst infrastructures in European countries I've visited.
ある点ではボリビアよりヒドイかも？、なんて思わせる。
I some cases, it could be worse than Bolivia, so I thought.
高速はヴロラの街手前で終わり、またガタガタ道。
The motorway ended before the town of Vlora, then the bad roads came back.
で、ヴロラを抜けてしばらく走ると海岸沿いに出る。
After while I came to the coastal line.
この道は比較的舗装状況は良好。
The road condition of this line was relatively good.
海を見ながら走るのは楽しいけど、ちょっとモヤがかかっている。
It was fun riding in the curves with the sea view! But it was smoggy a bit.
しばらく海岸沿いを走っていると、急に山を登って行く。ドンドン登って行く。
The road took me to the mountain pass. It went up higher and higher.
気温も下がりかなり標高が高くなっているのを感じる。
I felt sudden drops in the temp. It was quite high up.
で、峠は1,000メートル越え。
The highest point of the pass was more than 1,000m.
モヤがかかっているからあまりハッキリと見えないけどしたは海。
It was unclear with smog, but beneath the cliff, the sea was.
条件が整えば最高の眺めなんだろうなぁ。
If it was clear, the view must have been spectacular.
ここから降りに。
The I went down to the sea shore again.
途中ビーチなんか見えてきて、なかなか楽しい。
On the way, there was a great view of a beautiful beach.
でも、なんかモヤってるんだよねぇ。
But it was smoggy still.
海岸沿いをサランダという街まで走る。たまに穴ポコがあるから気を抜けないのだ。
I rode through the curves till Sarande. But there were some pot holes, I needed to ride with care all the time.
サランダから更に南へ。国境は近いのだけど、マイナーな道だから標識があまりハッキリしていない。
I rose further south from Sarande. The border to Greece was near, but as it was a minor route to Greece, the signs were not clear.
そうそう、ワシのGPSはアルバニアでは殆ど訳に立たないのだ。幹線道路のデータしかないのだ。
Well, my GPs was almost useless in Albania. The map data was so bad, it just had major routes of the country and no detail at all.
ガソリンスタンドでこの道であっているのか、と訊くと、どうやらあっているみたいだ。
I made a stop at a petrol station and filled up my tank. Then I asked the guy if I was on the right track to Greece. He said I was on.
30キロくらいで国境だけど、途中からダートになるらしい。
He said it would be another 30km or so to the border but some parts of the road wasn't paved.
アルバニア語全然わからないけど、身振り手振りでなんとかなるものだ。
I had no understanding of Albanian Language, but I managed to get the information I needed! Yeah!
しばらく走ると、艀があって渡るのに1ユーロ。目の前に砦？があってなかなかの風景。
I continued riding to south. There were some parts the roads were divided, but I followed my instinct and kept going. Then I came to a river crossing. There was a wooden ferry cost €1. There was a ruin of a fortress on the other shore and it made the scenery nicer.
果たしてガソリンスタンドのオジさんの言うとおりダートになった。
After crossing the river, the road became unpaved as the guy said.
しばらく走ると舗装路に出て、国境。
Then after while it connected to a beautifully paved road which lead to the border.
さらばアルバニア！

晴れの60ヶ国目！
This is the 60th country to visit on this RTW trip.
オドメーターも丁度87,000キロ！あ、写真撮り忘れた…。
The odometer of Esperanza was 87,000km exact! But I did not take a photo of it...

Day 947: 2013年3月29日
Berat, Albania (Berat Hostel)

さて、ギリシアに向かうぞ！と気合を入れて起きた、が、しかし雨降ってる！
I was ready to go to Greece! But it was raining when I woke up at 7:30am...
なので二度寝。
So I went back to sleep.
再び起きたら雨は上がっていたけど、また降りそうだし。
When I woke up again, the rain had stopped, but it seemed like it could come back any time soon.
朝飯を食べながら様子をみる。
So having breakfast, I was seeing the sky and deciding if I should leave or stay.
これはいけそうだな。10時だけど、まぁ、日は長い。
The clouds were getting less and less thick, so I started to gear up. It was already 10am but I still had almost whole day ahead.
で、出発の準備が整う寸前に、また雨が降ってきた…。
Then I was almost ready to go, the rain came back...
これは今日は行くな、ってことだな。
This would be the sign I should stay one more day here.
荷物を降ろし、まぁ、雨が降ってるから宿でゆっくりするしかないな。
I took off luggages from Esperanza and went back to the common room.
ここでアメリカ人のエリザベスの知り合った。なんと彼女は去年の8月まで高知で英語を教えていたのだ！
Then I got to know Elizabeth from the States. She was teaching English in Kochi, Japan till last August!
旅の話し、日本の話し、アメリカの話しなどで盛り上がる。
We talked a lot about the trip, Japan and the States.
昼過ぎになって、ちょっと晴れ間が出て来たので、ワシは裏山に行ってみた。
In the afternoon, the sky got cleared a bit, so I went for a hike in the hill behind the hostel.
桜(?)が青空に映える。
The contrast of the blue sky and Sakura (?) was beautiful.
裏山の頂上からは向かいの山の城がよく見えるらしい。
From the top of hill, the view would be nice, so I heard.
路地を伝い登っていくと、行き止まり…。
I walked up the alleys, but it ended up to the dead end...
何回か行き止まりに当たってようやく頂上への道を見つけた。
I got to the dead ends a few times and finally I found a passage to the top of hill.
おぉ、雪山が見える。
The snow capped mountains were in front of me! A nice view. Unfortunately it got cloudy again...
晴れ間は束の間で、また雨が降りそうだ。
It seemed like raining again.
結構な急斜面を登る。石が濡れているから結構滑る。
The slope was steep and the rocks were wet and slippery.
で、ようやく頂上！ヒツジも喜んでおる！
Finally I got to the top! Mr. Sheep was enjoying the view!
くまも。
The bear was too!
が、しかし、ここで雨が降ってきた。
Then the rain was back again...
急いで、しかし、滑らないように降る。
I went down quickly but carefully.
宿に戻って、エリザベスも散歩から帰ってきたようで、また歓談。
Back to the hostel, Elizabeth also came back from her walk, so we chatted again.
夜は宿のオーナーのスコットと映画「The Usual Suspects」を鑑賞。
In the evening, with Scott we watched the movie "The Usual Suspects".
ケビン・スペイシーの演技が光る。カイザー・ソゼ。
I like Kevin Spacy. He is brilliant!
映画の後は再び歓談。エリザベスは日本で3年過ごしたので、彼女の目からみた日本について話しが聞けて大変ためになった。
After the movie, we talked again. As she spent 3 years in Japan, to get to know her insight of Japan was really interesting and meaningful to me.
まだまだ日本は改善すべき面がある、と改めて思うのだった。
There are lots of things we, Japanese, need to address for the better future.
明日は天気は幾分いいらしいから、ギリシアに向かう予定！
Tomorrow it will be better weather, so I will head to Greece, I hope!

Day 946: 2013年3月28日
Kotor, Montenegro to Berat, Albania (Berat Backpackers)
86,427km to 86,743km = 316km
さて、今日は何処まで行きますかね。
I wasn't sure how far I was going today.
天気は曇り。
It was cloudy.
アルバニアはヨーロッパ最貧国というレッテルが貼られているくらい発展が遅れている国だそうだ。
Albania, where I was heading, is as called "the poorest state of Europe". Due to the mismanagement by the government, the economic development of the country has been far behind from its neighbours.
道路などのインフラもあまり良くないらしい。
The infrastructures such as roads are not good either.
で、なんとワシのGPSのアルメニアの地図が幹線しかデータが無い！
And I realised that the Albanian map of my GPS did not have details! It had only the main highways of the country...
普段は予約した宿や目星い宿の所在地を予めGPSに入力しておくのだけれど、それが出来ない。しかも街に付いてからも手探りで宿を探すしか無い。
Usually I key in the addresses of the destination beforehand, but in Albania, I cannot do that. If I want to find an accommodation, I have to look around...
フム。
Well.
面倒臭かったら一気にギリシアまで抜けてしまおうかな、と。
If I get lazy in Albania, I might go through to Greece today.
それはアルバニアの道路状況次第だけど。
But it depends on the road condition of Albania. It might take longer to go through the country than I expect.
コトルは7時半に出発。モンテネグロもまだまだ開発途中で至る所で道路工事。これによりなかなか前に進めない。
I left Kotor by 7:30am. There were many sections of the roads still under construction in Montenegro. Which delayed my advance.
でもアドリア海の景色は素晴らしい。生憎の曇りだけど。
But the view of Adriatic Sea was great as usual. Well, it could be better if it was sunny.
モンテネグロは狭い国だからいつの間にか国境に到着してしまった。
I got to the border without realising it!
ここはモンテネグロとアルバニアのパスポートコントロールが一体らしく、スタンプは一個だけ。
Here I got only one stamp for both Montenegro and Albania. Unusual.
保険のことも何も言われなかったけど、国境を越えたら直ぐに保険屋ブースが在ったからそこで購入。15日間で13ユーロ。
The officer did not mention anything about the green card. But I found some booths selling a green card, so I purchased one. For 15 days, €13.
アルバニア人はイタリア語を話す人が多いらしく、ここではスペイン語で対応。なんとか話は通じるもんだ。
It seems like many Albanians speak Italian, so I spoke in Spanish to communicate with them. The basic conversations can be done in this way.
「両替商は無いのか？」、と訊いたら、「レストランやガソリンスタンドではユーロで支払い可能だ」、そうだ。
I asked if there was any money exchange, but there wasn't. I was told I could use Euro in petrol stations and restaurants.
さて、59ヶ国目アルバニアを走るぞ！
So I am in Albania, the 59th country of my visit on this trip.
ロバが走っていたり、羊の群れが路肩にいたり、何だか中南米を彷彿させてくれる。
There were donkeys running on the road, pulling a trailers, the herd of sheep on the road side. Those reminded me of Latin America.
道路の舗装状況は悪く、「最貧国」というのも頷ける。
The pavement was really in bad condition in many parts of the roads. I could tell here was much poorer than the neighbours.
ゴミもよく落ちているし…。
The trash was everywhere on the road side too...
丘の上に砦があったので、写真撮影。
There was a fortress on top of the hill, so I took a photo.
やたらとガソリンスタンドがある。こんなにあったら潰し合いにならんのかな？
There were many petrol stations along the way. I wondered if they were cannibalising each other!?
そうそう、ここアルバニアは国全体がネズミ講詐欺に合って経済的にどん底になったことで有名。
It's a famous story that more than half of Albanians lost their fortunes with multi-business.
経済感覚は大丈夫なのかいな…？
I am not sure if they learnt a lesson from the experience. But the way them built so much petrol stations, I doubt that.
道路は良くなったり悪くなったり。結構これでもか、と言うくらいボコボコの舗装がある。幹線道路なのに。
A few sections were beautifully paved, but there were more sections the pavements were damaged beyond comprehension. Those were the main routes of the nation...
運転マナーはそんなに悪くないけど、他のヨーロッパ諸国と比べれば粗い。
The driving manner of Albanians seemed to be fine. Although they were more rough than other Europeans.
そうそう、結構警官が取り締まりをしている。
And there were lots of police on the way. They did not bother me though.
路面の悪い所では速度はあんまり上げられないから、なかなか距離が稼げない。
As the road condition was bad, I could ride in high speed. It was taking longer time than I planned.
雨も降ってきた。
It started to rain.
数多あるガソリンスタンドなんだけど、必ず看板に「Bar Restaurant」か「Bar Kafe」と書いてあるんだけど、殆どそんな施設は併設していない…。
As I mentioned earlier, there were lots of petrol stations. Every one of them had a sign saying "Bar Restaurant" or "Bar Kafe". But many of them did not have those facilities at all... I wondered why then put those on the sign.
何軒か「レストラン」を当たってみたけど、ユーロは使えない、っていうし。
I made a few stops at those "Restaurant" but they did not accept Euro...
ユーロが使える所は飲み物しかないし…。「レストラン」って書いてあるじゃん！
And some places where I could use Euro would not provide any food... But the sign said "Restaurant" clearly!
で、ちょっと高そうな「レストラン」が併設してあるガソリンスタンドで「ユーロは使えないか？何か食べ物はないか？」、と訊いたら、ユーロは使えるけど、食べ物は無い、と。
Then I made a stop at another petrol station with a "Bar Restaurant". It looked like a very pricey place. I asked if I could use Euro and if they provided any food. They would accept Euro but they did not have any food...
が、しかし！ガソリンスタンドで両替してもらえるよ、と！
But he told me the guy at the pump could exchange Euros to Albanian Leks!
そこで20ユーロを2,700アルバニア・レクに換金。これで飯が食える。
So I exchanged €20 to 2,700Leks. Now I could eat something. Well, if I could find a place serving meals.
が、しかし、なかなか飯が食えそうな場所が無い。
As guessed, now I could not find a restaurant!
で、遂に見つけた！
Finally I found one!
アルバニアは長らくトルコに支配されていたからケバブが郷土料理になっているみたい。
Albania was occupied by Ottoman for a long time, so Kebab became one of the Albanian local foods.
これで250レク(215円)。
It was 250Leks (€1.80).
食べていたら、ウエイターのベルナルドが話しかけてきた。
While having the kebab, the waiter Bernard came to talk to me.
「ここに座って話しをしてもいいかな？バイクで旅してるの？しかも日本から！スゲぇ！」、としきりに感心。あ、彼は英語が話せるから英語で会話。
"Could I take a seat here and talk to you?" He asked in English. "So you are travelling on the motorbike! And from Japan! Really!!?" He was so surprised and was happy to get to know me.
向こうの席にはボスとその友人たちが昼飯を食べていて、いろいろ話しをして仲良くなった。
There were 4 guys at the table behind me. It was his boss and boss's friends having lunch. They joined our conversation and we made friends too.
エスペランサとベルナルド。こういう出会いというか体験が旅をしていて楽しいのだ。
I took a photo of Esperanza and Bernard for a good memory. This kind of experience is what I like the most while travelling.
今日はあても無く走っていたけど、ちょっと訪ねてみたいな、と思っていたベラトはここから50キロくらい、とのことでベラトに行くことに。
I wasn't sure where I was staying today, but I had a place in mind if I could not get to Greece. It was Berat. They said Berat was around 50km away.
ベラトも中世の街並みを残した街。
So I decided to stay in Berat. Berat was another town with the medieval touch.
石畳の路地を走って、今日の宿「Beret Backpackers」に到着。残念ながら駐車場はなくてエスペランサは路駐…。
I rode into the old town and went through the stone paved alley. I found "Berat Backpackets" there. Unfortunately it did not have a parking space. So I had to park Esperanza on the alley.
宿のオーナーのスコット曰く「絶対安全」だそうだけど。
But Scott, the owner if the hostel, said there would be perfectly safe. Some motorcyclists parked their motos there over night.
宿には桜(？)が咲いていた。
There was a tree bloomed at the hostel. Wasn't it Sakura?
さて、旧市街と城に行ってみよう！
I went to explore in the old town.
旧市街はドブロブニクやコトルよりも寂れていて、生活感が漂っていて面白い。
The old town kept more "local" and "everyday" atmosphere than Dubrovnik and Kotor and I liked it!
路地が良い雰囲気。
Those alleys were nice.
城へは結構な斜面を登って行く。
There was a castle on the top of the hill. A steep ascend I had to make.
中々大規模な城だ。
It was bigger than it seemed.
なんと城の中に街があって人々が生活している。
Inside the castle, there were houses and shops! People were living there!
川の流れがよく見える。クネクネと流れている、自然な川。
From the top of hill, I could see how the river flowed through. The flow looked natural, which I wouldn't see in Tokyo (of course!).
治水はどうなっているのかな？
But I wondered if there was any flood.
もう陽が暮れてきた。宿のある集落を見下ろす。
The sun had set. From the top, I could see the block where the hostel located.
さて、宿に帰って明日の予定でもたてるかな。
Well, I get back to the hostel and made a plan for tomorrow.

ヨーロッパの北朝鮮、とも云われるアルバニア。確かに経済状況は芳しく無いようです。人はそこそこ人懐こいし、自然も豊かだからもう少し頑張って欲しいものです。

Kotor, Montenegro to Berat, Albania (Berat Backpackers)
86,427km to 86,743km = 316km
さて、今日は何処まで行きますかね。
I wasn't sure how far I was going today.
天気は曇り。
It was cloudy.
アルバニアはヨーロッパ最貧国というレッテルが貼られているくらい発展が遅れている国だそうだ。
Albania, where I was heading, is as called "the poorest state of Europe". Due to the mismanagement by the government, the economic development of the country has been far behind from its neighbours.
道路などのインフラもあまり良くないらしい。
The infrastructures such as roads are not good either.
で、なんとワシのGPSのアルメニアの地図が幹線しかデータが無い！
And I realised that the Albanian map of my GPS did not have details! It had only the main highways of the country...
普段は予約した宿や目星い宿の所在地を予めGPSに入力しておくのだけれど、それが出来ない。しかも街に付いてからも手探りで宿を探すしか無い。
Usually I key in the addresses of the destination beforehand, but in Albania, I cannot do that. If I want to find an accommodation, I have to look around...
フム。
Well.
面倒臭かったら一気にギリシアまで抜けてしまおうかな、と。
If I get lazy in Albania, I might go through to Greece today.
それはアルバニアの道路状況次第だけど。
But it depends on the road condition of Albania. It might take longer to go through the country than I expect.
コトルは7時半に出発。モンテネグロもまだまだ開発途中で至る所で道路工事。これによりなかなか前に進めない。
I left Kotor by 7:30am. There were many sections of the roads still under construction in Montenegro. Which delayed my advance.
でもアドリア海の景色は素晴らしい。生憎の曇りだけど。
But the view of Adriatic Sea was great as usual. Well, it could be better if it was sunny.
モンテネグロは狭い国だからいつの間にか国境に到着してしまった。
I got to the border without realising it!
ここはモンテネグロとアルバニアのパスポートコントロールが一体らしく、スタンプは一個だけ。
Here I got only one stamp for both Montenegro and Albania. Unusual.
保険のことも何も言われなかったけど、国境を越えたら直ぐに保険屋ブースが在ったからそこで購入。15日間で13ユーロ。
The officer did not mention anything about the green card. But I found some booths selling a green card, so I purchased one. For 15 days, €13.
アルバニア人はイタリア語を話す人が多いらしく、ここではスペイン語で対応。なんとか話は通じるもんだ。
It seems like many Albanians speak Italian, so I spoke in Spanish to communicate with them. The basic conversations can be done in this way.
「両替商は無いのか？」、と訊いたら、「レストランやガソリンスタンドではユーロで支払い可能だ」、そうだ。
I asked if there was any money exchange, but there wasn't. I was told I could use Euro in petrol stations and restaurants.
さて、59ヶ国目アルバニアを走るぞ！
So I am in Albania, the 59th country of my visit on this trip.
ロバが走っていたり、羊の群れが路肩にいたり、何だか中南米を彷彿させてくれる。
There were donkeys running on the road, pulling a trailers, the herd of sheep on the road side. Those reminded me of Latin America.
道路の舗装状況は悪く、「最貧国」というのも頷ける。
The pavement was really in bad condition in many parts of the roads. I could tell here was much poorer than the neighbours.
ゴミもよく落ちているし…。
The trash was everywhere on the road side too...
丘の上に砦があったので、写真撮影。
There was a fortress on top of the hill, so I took a photo.
やたらとガソリンスタンドがある。こんなにあったら潰し合いにならんのかな？
There were many petrol stations along the way. I wondered if they were cannibalising each other!?
そうそう、ここアルバニアは国全体がネズミ講詐欺に合って経済的にどん底になったことで有名。
It's a famous story that more than half of Albanians lost their fortunes with multi-business.
経済感覚は大丈夫なのかいな…？
I am not sure if they learnt a lesson from the experience. But the way them built so much petrol stations, I doubt that.
道路は良くなったり悪くなったり。結構これでもか、と言うくらいボコボコの舗装がある。幹線道路なのに。
A few sections were beautifully paved, but there were more sections the pavements were damaged beyond comprehension. Those were the main routes of the nation...
運転マナーはそんなに悪くないけど、他のヨーロッパ諸国と比べれば粗い。
The driving manner of Albanians seemed to be fine. Although they were more rough than other Europeans.
そうそう、結構警官が取り締まりをしている。
And there were lots of police on the way. They did not bother me though.
