Tokyo, Japan to Frankfurt, Germany via Shanghai, China (On the airplane to Germany)

出発の日の朝を迎えた。

It's the day to leave my home.

あんまり「旅に出る」、という心持ちでもないし。旅に出ることに慣れてしまったせいか!? かと言って3年前に出発した時よりも不安が無いわけではない。

I still do not have the feeling of leaving home and going back to the round world trip... Is this because I got used to with travelling? But I have some anxiety that I didn't have when I started the trip 3 years ago...

何なんだろう、この感覚。

What is it? I am not sure why I feel so.

旅も佳境に入り、帰国後のことなどが気になるからか、なんか旅に集中出来ない。こんなことを考えながら出立の支度をする。

I know my trip is going to end relatively soon, and I need to think about what I will do after the trip. I have to face it soon. Probably that's why I cannot concentrate on the trip alone. As such, I was thinking in the morning.

まぁ、それ以外に旅に集中出来ない理由があるんだけどね。わかる人にはわかるでしょ。

Well, I have another matter I would like to take care of. This could be the greatest reason why I have such a feeling.

父と母と朝飯を食べ、まぁ、たわいも無い話しをしたり。

I had breakfast with my dad and mum, talking everyday topic.

従兄弟のシュンが羽田空港まで送ってくれるというので、好意に甘えることに。

My cousin Shun offered me a lift to the airport.

父と母にしばしの別れを告げて出発！前回は2年と3ヶ月留守にしていたけど、今回は長くて7ヶ月だから、直ぐに帰ってくるよ。

I said a good-bye to my parents, well I will be away just for 7 months (last time I was away for 2 years and 3 months!). So do not worry!

羽田空港には2時間半前に楽々到着。

There was no traffic and we got to the airport on time.



軽く珈琲でも呑んで展望台から滑走路を眺める。

We had cuppa and went out to the terrace to see the runway.



天気は良かったけど、残念ながら富士山は見えず。

If we were lucky, we could see Mt. Fuji. It was a fine day but smog was covering the beautiful mountain...

1時半ごろに出国手続きをして、さて、行きますか。ヒツジよ。

I went through the departure gate around 1:30pm. Let's go back to the adventure, Mr. Sheep!

今回は中国東方航空を利用。あまり中国にお金を落としたくなかったのだけれど、他社より格安なので…。申し訳ない。JALと共同便、ということで自分を納得させる。

I was flying with China Eastern Airway. Actually I did not want to use any of Chinese airline but it was way cheaper than other flights, so I reluctantly purchased the ticket... It was a combine flight with Japan Airlines, which consoled me a little.

離陸前に睡魔に襲われて、眠ってしまった。

I fell in asleep before the plane took off!

目が覚めたら離陸後で、窓の外をみれば美しい我が国土が。

When I was awake, I saw a beautiful land scape of my country.

これは信濃の山脈だろうか。

Those are probably mountains of Nagano.



機内では映画が放映されたり、機内食が出たり、と最近LCCばかり乗っていたからなんか新鮮。

There was a inflight movie and a meal served. Recently I was flying with LCCs only, so those services were kinda bonus for me.

着陸前におもむろにeチケットを見ていたらこの便は虹橋国際空港に到着し、フランクフルトへの便は浦東国際空港から発、と書いてある！

Before landing, I checked my e-ticket and found out the airport I was arriving and the airport I was going to leave for Frankfurt were different!

あれ、移動はどうするんだ？一旦入国しなければいけないのか？

How could I get transferred between the airports? Should I go through the immigration?



案の定、浦東国際空港へ行くには一旦入国しなければいけなかった。これでこの旅で54ヶ国目。うーん、カウントして良いものかちょっと悩む。

As I guessed, I needed to enter China. This is 54th country to visit on this trip. Well, I did not expect to step on the soil of China. Should I count China as one of the countries I've visited?

入国ゲートをくぐり観光案内所を探すが見当たらない。

After I went through immigration and custom, I was looking for Tourist Information but there wasn't any seen...

フム。

Well.

ウロウロしてると、カウンターから声がかかった。「浦東国際空港に行くならこれしかないわよ！」、と。

I was wondering around the floor, then a lady behind a tour desk told me "If you are going to Pu Dong Airport, you have to catch this! There is no other option!"

「え、シャトルバスとかないの？」、「何、50キロも離れている？」、「渋滞したら一時間半はかかる？」、「あと10分で車は出る？」などなど、と。

I asked if there was any shuttle bus or some sort. She told me the airport was 50km away from here and it would take 1 hour & half or more in case of a traffic congestion... She said the vehicle was to leave in 10 mins.

「で、いくらよ？何？650元!?」、「それって米ドルでいくらくらい？」、「50何ドル？高いなぁ。」。

"So how much is it? 650RMB?", "How much is it in US$ roughly?", "US$50! That's expensive!!"

まさか中国元が必要になるとは思はなかったから、交換レートも何も調べてこなかった…。

As I did not plan to enter China, I did not even check the exchange rate...

iPod Touchの為替アプリはネットにつなげないとレートを表示しないし(中国元をリストに入れてなかったから、以前の情報が入ったいない…)。

In my iPod Touch, there is a currency converter application, but it does not work without Internet connection...

フランクフルト行きの便は23時55分発だからまだ6時間以上ある。これの他にも面倒臭くてもいく方法は有るだろう。

My flight to Frankfurt was to leave at 23:55pm, so I still had more than 6 hours. I was sure that there were other cheaper ways to get to another airport.

「クレジットカードで支払いOKよ」、と姐ちゃん。

But she said to me, "You can pay by a credit card!"

これがいけなかった。両替するのも面倒だ、とおもっていたからチケットを購入してしまった…。

It was a devil's whisper to me. I was feeling lazy to exchange the currency and make a research how to get to the other airport. So I purchased the damn ticket .

外に出て車に乗り込む。

I went outside and got on a car.

最近日本では中国から飛来するPM2.5という有毒物質が問題になっているけど、確かに空気は澄んでいるとは言えない。

Recently it's a big issue in Japan regarding small toxic particles called PM2.5 coming from China. As imagined, the air of Shanghai wasn't that fresh.



でもインドよりマシなんじゃない？

But it was still better than Indian's.

中国人の運転は少し荒っぽいけど、インドやエジプトと比べるとよっぽどマナーがイイ。

Chinese driving behaviours seemed to be better than that of Egyptians and Indians.

虹橋国際空港は上海の西にあり浦東国際空港は上海の東にある。どうも高速道路が市街をバイパスしているみたいで、多少の混雑はあったけど、1時間もかからずに到着。

The airport I arrived was in the west of the city and the one going to was in the east of the city. The highway was bypassing the city

ヒツジも中国の空気を吸ってみる。PM2.5くらいではへこたれないさ。

Mr. Sheep inhaled the air of Shanghai. He is the tough sheep, he wouldn't have any problem with PM2.5!?

チェックインを済まし、為替のレートを見てみたら、650元は9,000円以上もするではないか！

After I checked in, I check the exchange rate and found out RMB650 worth more than US$100!!!

これはやられましたな…。やはり何事も事前の下調べも大事だし、面倒臭がらずに幾つかの選択肢を検討することですな。反省反省。

さて、まだ7時だ。時間を持て余すなぁ。

荷物検査の前に持っていたライターをそこら辺に捨てる中国人…



そうそう、中国での入出国なんだけれど、係官の前にサービスに満足かどうかをボタンを押して投票出来る機械があった。

そのせいかどうかわからないけど、係官は笑顔で「你好！」、かなり感じが良い。

中国人はサービスが悪い、とレッテル貼られているけど、こうやって努力している。中国、侮れんよ！

空港には無料WiFiがあるんだけど、携帯電話を登録しないと使えない！ワシは携帯電話持っていない…。暇だぁ。

中国元は持っていないから食事も出来ないしね。持っている一番小さい紙幣は10米ドル。これを交換したら中国元が余るな。

どの道飛行機に乗れば飯は出るから(こういう時に限って出ない!?)腹ペコを抱えながら日記を書く、そんな旅復帰初日。

うーん、日本を出国しましたが、まだ旅人の感覚が戻って来ませんねぇ。明朝(日本時間の昼過ぎ)にはフランクフルト。そこまで行けば環境がガラッと変わって旅気分が復活しますかね!?
