Vienna, Austria to Maribor, Slovenia (Hostel Pekarna)

85,224km to 85,486km = 262km

夜半に多少雨が降ったみたいだけど、朝は曇り。

It seemed rained a bit during the night. But in the morning, it was cloudy.

行き先のマリボルは午後から晴れ、と予報だから、これは降られることはないな。

According to the weather forecast, in Maribor, where I was heading to, it would be sunny from the afternoon. So I didn't worry to get wet today.



今日は遅めに10時に出発。スロベニアまでは山越えもあるから、今日も高速道路を使ってしまおう。

I left the hostel at 10am. A late start. As I had to go through mountains on the way to Slovenia, I used the motorway.

高速道路に入って最初のガソリンスタンドで高速道路のチケットを購入。10日間で4.80ユーロ。

I purchased a motorway ticket at the first petrol station I saw on the motorway. It was€4.80 for 10 days.

ウィーンから南部のグラーツまでは山を越える。路肩には雪が多くなって行く。

From Vienna to Graz, I rode up to the pass. As I went higher, there was more snow on the road side.

寒いのでちょっと休憩。雪が、ね。

It got colder, so I took a rest at a petrol station. Well, the snow made the air colder.



まだまだ山は続く。

I continued riding through the mountains.

グラーツ手前から降りにはいり、晴れていて気温も上昇！

Before Graz, the road went down slope, and it got sunny and warmer!

グラーツを越えれば、もう直ぐスロベニア。

After passing Graz, Slovenia was just a step away.

この旅で55カ国目入国！

This is my 55th country to visit on this trip!



スロベニアでも高速道路のチケットを購入。7日間で7.80ユーロ。これは高い…。

I purchased a motorway ticket for Slovenia too. It was €7.80 for 7 days! It's more expensive than in Austria!

マリボルには1時半ごろ到着。旧市街を通ると、なかなかの景観。

I got to Maribor by 1:30pm. As I found the old town was really pretty!



なかなか良さそうな街だ。

The initial impression of the city was very good.

今日の宿ペカルナは最近出来たばかりみたいで、すごく綺麗。

The hostel of the day "Hostel Pekarna" is newly opened recently and it is very clean!

4ベッドのドミなんだけど、どうやら今日は他に客もいないから個室状態？

My room is 4 bed dorm, but it seems like I am only one using it tonight! A private room!?, Yeah!

鍵がかかる棚も充実していて、荷物を入れるのに困らない。

There are many lockable storages within the room, so it is really secure here.

今までで1番綺麗で快適なホステルかも。

This could be the cleanest and the most comfortable hostel I've ever stayed.



この街でやりたいことは2つ。

I have 2 things I want to do in this town.

1つはエスペランサを洗うこと。ドイツやチェコでは雪や雨に降られたんだけど、道路が凍結しないように塩がまかれている。

1: Washing Esperanza. On the motorways of Germany and Czech, in order not to freeze the surface of the roads, they spread salt on the road.

それが車体にこびりついているから、早く洗い流したい。

Esperanza is covered by salt now. I really want to wash the salt away.

2つ目はGPSの充電器を買うこと。

2: Buying a charger for my Garmin GPS.

宿の人に場所を訊いて、早速いってみた。

I asked the receptionist of the hostel where I could find those places, and I rode to the town.

が、しかし、洗車屋は見つからず。ガソリンスタンドで訊いてみたけど、自動洗車しかなく、バイクが洗えるところは知らない、と。

But I could not find a car washing place... I found a petrol station with automatic car washer, but the staff did not know where I could find a place to wash a motorcycle...

なかなか手洗い出来る洗車施設は見かけないんだよねぇ。

I've hardly seen a place to wash car manually...

で、充電器を買いに。これは宿の人に教えてもらった場所で買えた。

But I could buy a charger at the store I was told.

宿に戻り、パニアをエスペランサから外し、掃除。右パニアは相変わらず水漏れしているからどうにかせんとなぁ。

Back to the hostel, I took off the panniers and cleaned them. There was water in the right pannier. This has been a problem since I hit a bicycle in Peru... I gotta do something about it.

それから旧市街へ。

Then I walked to the old town.

橋から見る旧市街は、良い感じ。

最近くまばっかりだけど、主役はヒツジです。

It's been lots of photos with the bear recently, but Mr. Sheep!!



旧市街は狭い範囲だけど、なかなか良い雰囲気を出している。

The area is pretty small but the old town has a good atmosphere.



マリボル、気に入った！

I like Maribor!



宿に戻り、スーパーで買ったサンドイッチとヨーグルトの夕飯を済ます。

Back to the hostel, I had a sandwich and a yogurt I bought at a supermarket.

パニアのことを考える。フタと本体がしっかり閉まっていないのが原因なのはわかっていた。

I was thinking what to do with the pannier. Then I got a good idea. As there is a gap between the lid and the box, I need to close it.

そのギャップにテープを貼れば、水は入ってこないんだけど、開け閉めするたんびに張り替えないといけないし、たまに忘れる。

I usually tape the gap when it's raining. But I have to retake it every time I open the pannier. And sometimes I forget to tape it.

あ、そうだ、クィックメタル(エポキシ)があったな。それでギャップが出来ないようにすれば良いのだ！

Then I realised I had epoxy "Quick Metal". I can use it to seal the gap!

ということで、やってみた。まぁ、結果は雨が降らないとわからないけど、上手くいくといいな。

So I did. I have to put it in the test - ride in the rain - to see the result.

で、この宿快適なんどけど、明日と明後日は良い天気。その後天気は悪くなるのだ。

I'd love to stay in this hostel longer, but only tomorrow and the day after would be fine weather and the following days would be snowing!!

なので、明日クロアチアに移動し、南下してしまおう。

So I decided to go south further to Croatia before the weather get worth.

そうすれば、雨が降ってもそんなに寒くない。

If I am in south, even if it rains, it wouldn't be that cold.

本当はもう一泊してゆっくりしたかったのですが、天気次第なのでそうも言ってられません。さてと、明日はいよいよシェンゲン協定国外に出ます。保険とか面倒くさそうだな…。
