今日も雪！
It's snowing again!
朝の気温はマイナス4度！
The outside temp was -4℃ in the morning!
これはしばらく動けないなぁ。
I will stuck here for a while...
クマが裏庭に遊びに行ったら、危うく遭難しかかったよ…。
The bear was almost lost at the backyard...
まぁ、雪が降っていてもこっちには四駆がある！
Even though I could not ride Esperanza, Friedel has a 4x4!
ケンルまで走る。
We went for shopping in Cologne.
雪のケルン大聖堂。なかなかの風情だけど、寒い。
Cathedral of Cologne, it looks good in snow, but it was so cold...
ケルンでは買い物を。
In Cologne I was looking for...
日本の実家にビーサンを置き忘れてしまったのだ。宿でシャワー後にはビーサンがないと不便だからフレッド宅を出る前に買いたいのだけれど、ドイツはまだまだ寒く誰もビーサンなんか買わないのか何処にも置いていない。
A pair of flip flops. I left a pair in Japan... It comes very handy especially in a shower room of the hostels. I wanted to buy it, but in Germany it's still to cold! None of the stores carries it in stock.
そこでネットで検索してケルンのハバイアナ取扱店に行ってみた。
Then I surfed on the net and found a store in Cologne carrying Havaianas products.
が、しかし、シーズン前だから置いていない、と。ありゃりゃ。
But they did not have any in stock as it's still off season...
スポーツ用品店なら有るかも、との助言に従っていってみたら、有った！
The staff told us we might find it at a sports shop. Then as advised, we found it!
ハバイアナではないけど、まあまあしっかりした造り。これで今回の旅の間はもちそうだな(盗まれなければ、の話だが…)。
It wasn't Havaianas but it was pretty good one and it should last for this trip (if it won't be stolen!).
フレッドとアンドレアの買い物も済ましてから家に戻る。
Once we've done with the shopping, we drove back home.
雪はますます積もっていく…。
The snow was piling up even more...
今日は向かいの家のアンカさんの誕生日だとのことで、お祝いに行ってみた。
It's the birthday of Anka, the neighbour of Friedel, today, so we went to her place to celebrate!
アンカさんとは初対面なんだけど、旦那さんのフランツには去年工具を頂いたり、パニアの歪みを治してもらったりしたのだ。
It was the first time for me too meet Anka, but Franz, her husband, helped me with fixing my pannier and gave me a tool last year.
「今日が誕生日なんだけど、パーティーは金曜日だから来てね！」、とお招きを頂きました！
"It's my birthday today but the party will be on Friday evening, and you are invited!", said Anka.
本当はエスペランサが準備出来ているので早目に出発したいのだけれど、この分だと早くて日曜日の出発になるから、お言葉に甘えて参加させて頂こう、と。
Actually I wanted to get started with my trip as soon as Esperanza is ready, but due to the weather, it looks like I'll be here till this weekend. So I will join the party!
こう雪が降っていると何も出来ない。
As it's snowing, we could not do much...
こんな時には室内の娯楽に限る！ってことでハインツとキャシーも誘ってボーリング大会！
Well, let's do some indoor activities! We went to a Ten Pin Bowling centre! Heinz and Kath joined us too!
何年振りのボーリングだろう？
It's been a long time since I played bowling...
あんまりボーリングは上手ないんだけど、最初のゲームはまぐれストライクから始まり、ダブルストライクも出してワシが勝利！
I'm not a good player but somehow with a luck, I started the game with Strike, and later I got Double Strikes, that made me a winner!
が、しかし、2回目は普段通り乱調で2位。
But at the 2nd game, I was back to normal and I came 2nd... Heinz won the 2nd game and scored highest in total.
ドイツ人はボーリングも的確に正確に投げるのか、と思ったけれど、そうでもない。フレッドなんかパワーがあるのにメチャクチャだからスコアが全然伸びないし！
I thought all Germans would play bowling in very precise manner but everyone played in their styles! Friedel has strength but he was throwing ver roughly, so his score was not good...
バイクで旅を再開するバズなのにドイツで遊んでいる三郎でした。
I was supposed to be riding down south, but having fun in Germany.
まぁ、旅は楽しむのに限るからね。これでイイのだ！
Well, as long as I have fun, that's all right :-)

今日も雪！
It's snowing again!
朝の気温はマイナス4度！

今日も寒い！数日前のあの暖かさは何処へやら…。
It's another cold day! It was warmer few days ago, but it seems to be back to winter now...
外の気温はマイナス2度。
The outside temp was -2℃.
何はともあれ、今日はエスペランサに今年初乗り。
But I had to do a few things today!
裏庭のコテージからエスペランサを出し、敷地の隣の空き地を抜けて道路に出るんだけど、土が湿っていて滑る滑る。
Friedel and I took out Esperanza from the cottage at the backyard. I had to ride through mud to get to the street. It was really slippery but I managed.
エスペランサのエンジンのかかりも良し！
The engine started up very easily.
クマはエスペランサに乗るの初めてだね。
It is the first ride for the bear on Esperanza.
ワクワクするね！

んじゃ、いってきます！

まぁ、家の周りを走らせただけなんだけど、5ヶ月以上も乗っていないと流石に1200ccもあるエスペランサはデカイ、って感じる。
I took a short spin around the house. As I didn't ride such a big bike for more than 5 months, Esperanza seemed to be bigger and heavier.
少し慣れたら、フレッドとボンに行く。先ずはBMWのディーラーへ。ここで見てもらいたいことがあって。
But gradually I gained back the feelings and confidence. Friedel lead me to Bonn, where I wanted to do a few things.
そう、去年エスペランサを冬眠させる時に気が付いたんだけど、右のフレームにヒビ割れが2箇所あるのを発見。
Last September when I was preparing to store Esperanza here, I found 2 cracks on a sub-frame of hers.
塗装だけヒビ割れているのか、中の鋼鉄まで割れているのかは時間が無くて調べられなかったのだ。
I wasn't sure if the cracks were on the paint only or were on the actual frame steel. As I didn't have time at that time, I did not check.
この5ヶ月以上ずっとそのことが懸念で。
So this was always at my concern for the last 5 months...
メカニックがフレームを点検。
A mechanic @ the BMW checked the sub-frame.
メカニック:「このバイクは事故に合わなかった？」
Mechanic: "Did you have any accident with this bike?"
ワシ:「ペルーで自転車と衝突したけど、40,000キロも前のコトだけど。」
I: "Well, a bicycle hit from the right side in Peru. But it was 40,000km ago."
メカニック:「なるほど。恐らくそのショックで少しフレームが歪んで、塗装が浮いたんだ。そこに水が侵入して塗装が剥がれてきた、とみるね。鋼鉄そのものには異常はなさそうだよ。」
Mechanic: "I see. I think it probably caused little torsion on the frame, which might caused the gap between the steel and the paint. From the crack of the paint, water got in and it resulted to make those cracks on the paint. I reckon it's nothing wrong with the frame steel itself."
メカニック:「塗装屋に持って行って、塗装を剥がして見てもらうとイイ。鋼鉄に問題なければ塗装の塗り直しだけでいいからね。」
Mechanic: "The best way to check is you take the bike to a paint workshop and let them remove the paint to check the steel underneath. If there is no damage on the steel, all they have to do is to paint it back!"
なるほど、メカニックの言う通りならいいな。
I see. I hope he is right!
次はADACへ。ここはドイツのJAFでグリーンカードというEU以外の国で登録された車両の保険を扱っている。
Then we went to ADAC. This is AAA of Germany. Here I can buy a "Green Card" - the motor insurance for Esperanza.
今回は1ヶ月だけ加入。105ユーロ。これで安心して走れるね。
I bought the premium for a month only, cost €105. Now I can ride without worry.
ボンまで走ったら、もう身体は慣れてきた。やっぱりバイクは楽しいねぇ。
I got used to riding Esperanza now! It's fun to ride with confidence!
それから塗装屋へ。ここはフレッドのカマロの修理でお世話になったところ。
Then we took her to the paint workshop. Here Friedel fixed his Camaro.
「1時間後に来て。フレームに問題なければ塗装をし直しておくよ。」、と。
"It takes about 1hour. If there is no damage on the steel, we'll repaint it!"
なので一旦家に戻るワシら。
Then we returned home at once.
雪がちらついて来た。
It started to snow a bit.
暖炉があるのが嬉しい。
I'm glad that we have a fire place!
1時間後外に出てみると、かなり積もってる…。
1hour later, the snow was piling up...
塗装屋に行くと、エスペランサは仕上がっていた！
Then Esperanza was ready!
「塗装を剥がしてルーペで点検したけど、フレーム自体に異常は無かったよ！」、と。
"We removed the paint and checked the frame with a magnifier, but there was no damage!"
よかった、よかった。
Excellent!!!
なんと無料でやってくれた。ありがとう！
And it was free of charge too! Danke!!!
これで気分も晴れやか！何時でも出発出来る。
Now I have no worries! I can start riding anytime!
あとは天気次第。帰り道は結構雪が強くなっていた…。
But it all depends on the weather. It was snowing harder on the way back.
あらら、積もっているよ。
Well, it piled up quite a bit...
夕方フレッドのお母さんを訪ねる。
We visited Friedel's mum in the afternoon.
お母さんは英語は話せないんだけど、何故かワシを気に入ってくれていて、良くしてくれるのだ。
She does not speak English but she's been really good to me!
有難いかぎり。
I like her very much too.
愛犬のトリクシーも相変わらず元気だ。
Trixy the fog was very lively as before!
お母さんと水曜日に中華料理屋でお昼をすることになりました。
We'll have lunch at Chinese restaurant on Wednesday.
さて、明日は最低気温マイナス7度なんだそう。うーん、着る服が無いぞ…。ライダージャケットを着るしかないか、な。
According to the forecast, it will be as low as -7℃ tomorrow. I have no cloth to wear in such cold temp! I gotta wear my riding jacket then...

何はともあれ、今日はエスペランサに今年初乗り。

Friedel and I took out Esperanza from the cottage at the backyard. I had to ride through mud to get to the street. It was really slippery but I managed.

明日3月11日であの東日本大震災から2年経ちます。
Tomorrow 3.11. It will have been 2 years since the devastating earthquake and Tsunami struck Japan.
まだまだ記憶に新しいですし、忘れようにも忘れられない、いや、決して忘れてはいけない日。
There are still many people suffering and we cannot forget it, well, we should not forget it at all.
タイトルを見て、「あれっ!? なんで68年!?」、と思った方もいらっしゃるのではないかと思います。
I suppose someone asks me, "Why 68 years?"
そう、もう一つ忘れてはならない出来事が。
Actually, today is 3.10 - another day we - Japanese - must not forget.
今日3月10日は68年前の1945年に東京大空襲があり、一晩で10万人もの方が亡くなった日です。
68 years ago - 1945 - 10th of March, 100,000 civilians were murdered by the US air raid to Tokyo.
100,000 civilians perished in one night!
私達戦後生まれの世代は実際に体験していないので、実感は無いかもしれません。
We often try to leave those terrible facts behind, especially those generations born after the Great War,
しかし、この恐ろしい事実も時と共に忘れさられていっているのでは!?
But as time goes by, the memory of the tragedy is fading...
決して忘れてはいけない、3月の出来事。
Lest we forget.

今日も朝から雨が降っている。しかも寒い。
It's raining from the morning. And it was much colder than yesterday.
昨晩は2時過ぎに寝たんだけど、どうも7時には目が覚めてしまう。
I went to bed around 2am last night, but I was up by 7am...
時差ぼけなのか歳なのか!?
I wondered if it was due to the jet lag or because I got old!?
先ずは、エスペランサ。
Well, the first thing in the morning, I checked Esperanza.
昨晩はなかなかかからなかったけど、遂にエンジンを始動出来た。
It took a long time to start up the engine last night.
で、今朝は!?
Then, how's this morning?
セルを一発でエンジン始動！これで一安心。
Just pushing the starter button, it started up!
フレッドとアンドレアは昨晩飲み過ぎたみたいでまだ起きて来ない。
Friedel and Andrea had too much drinks last evening, so they were still at sleep.
独りで朝飯を食べて、GPS(ナビ)の地図について調べたり。
I had breakfast alone, and made a research on Garmin GPS maps on OSM (Open Source Maps) sites.
ヨーロッパの地図は去年購入してギリシアとブルガリアまではカバーされているのだけれど、トルコの地図が結構粗い。
I have entire Europe map in my GPS now, but the map of Turkey is not that in detail.
そしてイランから東は全く地図が無いから、ネット上で探してダウンロードするしか無いんだよね。
More I have no map for the Middle East and Central Asia. So I need to download maps from the web.
日本にいる間にもダウンロードは出来たんだけど、肝心のGPSが手元に無かったからやらなかったのだ。
I could have done that while I was in Japan, but I left my GPS here in Germany, so I could not test in Japan.
世の中には良い人たちが沢山いて、苦労して地図を作ってるのに無料でダウンロードさせてくれるのだ。
OSM sites offer downloadable free maps to the public. How wonderful people they are!
試しにイランの地図をダウンロードして、タブレットPC(Windows 8搭載)にインストールして、マップソースを使ってGPSに地図を送信。
I downloaded a map of Iran for testing and installed it to my new Windows 8 tablet. Then I upload it to my GPS.
どうやら上手く行ったみたいだ！
It seems to be working fine!
実際ナビをしてくれるかは、現地に行って見ないとわからないけど、地図自体は良い感じ。
I could not test if it was actually tout able (it said so at the OSM site), but the map itself looked quite in detail and good.
これでバイクで出発する前にすることの一つが片付いた。
One thing I must do before I resume the trip has been completed.
そうそうタブレットPCは買ったばっかりでまだ操作に慣れていない。
Then I played around with the tablet. It's new and I am not familiar with it yet.
今日は暇だから色々イジッてみて使い方を学ぶ。
There was a tutorial, and I learnt a few things by following the instructions.
外を見ると小雨から小雪に変わっていた。あ、あの小雨でも女優の小雪でも無いですよ。雨の小雨と雪の小雪です。
I looked at outside and the raining became the snowing. Don't you think "Little Rain" looks like the actress "Koyuki" (meaning little snow)?
寒いし寝不足だから昼寝を少々。
It's cold and I was sleepy, so I had a nap in the afternoon.
夕方にフレッドの友人ハインツが訪ねて来て(彼とは去年ケルンの酒場に一緒に遊びに行った)、エスペランサのサブフレームのヒビを見てもらった。
Heinz - a friend of Friedel - came to the house. As he is familiar with welding, he checked on Esperanza's cracks.
彼は溶接には詳しいのだ。
「これならTIGで溶接出来るから、問題ないよ」、と。
He said, "Those can be done with TIG, so not a big job!".
明日ボンにある溶接屋に行く事に。
Tomorrow Friedel will take me to a welder in Bonn.
さて、夕飯はフレッドとアンドレアと外食。
Friedel, Andrea and I went out for dinner.
今日もドイツ風。だけど昨日とは違い調理した豚肉を。ドイツと言えば、シュニッツェル！
A typical German dinner! Unlike yesterday, it was cooked though! Schnitzels!
デカイ!!!
Huge!!!
これ食べ切れるのか!?
Could I eat it all?
結構頑張り、肉とサラダとポテトは完食！
I did it!
家に帰ったら運動しようっと。

明日3月11日であの東日本大震災から2年経ちます。
Tomorrow 3.11. It will have been 2 years since the devastating earthquake and Tsunami struck Japan.
まだまだ記憶に新しいですし、忘れようにも忘れられない、いや、決して忘れてはいけない日。
There are still many people suffering and we cannot forget it, well, we should not forget it at all.
タイトルを見て、「あれっ!? なんで68年!?」、と思った方もいらっしゃるのではないかと思います。
I suppose someone asks me, "Why 68 years?"
そう、もう一つ忘れてはならない出来事が。
Actually, today is 3.10 - another day we - Japanese - must not forget.
今日3月10日は68年前の1945年に東京大空襲があり、一晩で10万人もの方が亡くなった日です。
68 years ago - 1945 - 10th of March, 100,000 civilians were murdered by the US air raid to Tokyo.
100,000 civilians perished in one night!
私達戦後生まれの世代は実際に体験していないので、実感は無いかもしれません。
We often try to leave those terrible facts behind, especially those generations born after the Great War,
しかし、この恐ろしい事実も時と共に忘れさられていっているのでは!?
But as time goes by, the memory of the tragedy is fading...
決して忘れてはいけない、3月の出来事。

朝目覚めたら、雨が降っていた。小雨ではなく本降り。
It was raining when I woke up in the morning.
今日は土曜日。フレッドもアンドレアもまだ起きてこないから、ベッドにて昨日の日記を英語に訳す。
It's Saturday, so I stayed in the bed and updating my blog in English.
9時ごろ、フレッドとジーラの散歩に。
Around 9am, Friedel and I took Sira for a walk.
幸い雨は小降りになっていた。小雨ね。あ、あの小雨ではありませんよ、雨の小雨です。
Fortunately, the rain eased up and was raining a little. Yes, again, "Little Rain".
ここボーンヘイムは小さな街で辺りは森があったり。西ドイツ時代の首都ボンは直ぐそこなんだけれど、かなりのど田舎。
Here Bornheim is pretty small town surrounded by forests. Bonn - the capital of West Germany period is located nearby. To me, it was surprising that one of the most technologically advanced nation had its capital city in such place.
でもいい環境だよね。
But I like that. It's really a nice environment here.
小雨の降る中森の中を散歩。
We walked in the forest in the little rain.
相変わらずジーラは枝で遊ぶのが好き。
Sira loves playing with a stick.
最初は普通の枝を持って来て、「投げてくれ！」とやっていたけど、
She found a small stick and asking Friedel to throw it!
大きな枝を持って来て、「投げて！」、と。それはデカ過ぎて投げられないよ！
But then, she found a big branch and asking to throw it! It's too big!
家に戻る前にスーパーに寄って朝飯を調達。流石ドイツ、ハムやソーセージが充実している！
Before we went home, we made a short stop at a supermarket to buy breakfast stuffs. There were ranges of hams and sausages!
ハム、ソーセージ好きのワシにはたまりませんな！
As I love hams and sausages, just starling at them made me happy!
黒トリュフ入りのハムが売っている！100グラムで2ユーロくらい。え、トリュフってこんなにお手軽なのか!?
I found a package of ham with dark truffle. It costs €2 for 100g! I didn't know it can be that affordable!
家に戻りアンドレアと朝食。スモーク・サーモンや先ほどのトリュフのハムなど。うーん、なんか贅沢だ。
Back home, we had a big breakfast!
屋根裏部屋に保管してあったワシの荷物を降ろして点検。旅が始まってから結構荷物を減らしたけど、まだまだ減らせそう。
Friedel and I brought down my stuffs from the attic. I have downsized my luggages since the beginning of the trip, but I think I can reduce some more.
出発前にもう一度本当にいるものだけを厳選しよう。
Before I take off here, I should go through stuffs to choose what I really need for the rest of my trip to Japan.
ビーチサンダルを靴屋とか大型スーパーに買いに。
I went to find a pair of flip flops at a shoe shop and a huge supermarket.
今度はワシが運転。BMWのマニュアルだ。
This time I drove a BMW with a manual transmission!
バイクと同じ構造とはいえ、足でクラッチの操作はなんか感覚がつかめない！
Even though the transmission is the same as a motorbike (well kind of), the feeling was so different to control the crutch with a foot!
何とか無事に到着。が、しかし、まだ時期が早くてどこにも置いてない…。やはり、そうきたか。
I arrived there without any accident! But as it was too early for summer, they haven't got it on stock...
それから、エスペランサにバッテリーを取り付けて、エンジン始動！
Then I reconnected the battery to Esperanza to start the engine!
が、しかし、なかなかエンジンがかからない…。
But it didn't start up...
もう少しでかかりそうなんだけど、やはりかからない。
It was almost coming, but wasn't.
そのうちバッテリーが上がってしまった。
Then the battery went flat...
予備のバッテリーにつないだけど、同じ結果。
We tried with a backup battery but the same result.
5ヶ月以上も冬眠させていたから、まぁ、仕方ないのかも。
As she was left here for more than 5 months, so it might be normal to be like this.
バッテリーを再び充電して今夜再度挑戦してみよう。
I recharge the battery again and will try it later in the evening.
さて、7時過ぎにヴィルフレッドの家まで車で。またまたワシの運転！
We went to Wilfried's place around 7pm. I drove the car again! Yes, I am the designated driver.
まぁ、なんとか無事にヴィルフレッド宅まで。
Without any crush, we got to the place safely!
今日は奥さんのエレナの誕生日パーティーなのだ。
It's the birthday party of Elena - Wilfried's wife!
大勢の友人たちが来ている。
Many guests came to the party!
ドイツ、というとビールとソーセージというイメージでしょう。
Beer and sausage are typical image of Germany, I suppose.
ワシはアルコールを飲めない体質だから残念ながらその旨いドイツのビールは飲めないんだけど、ソーセージは沢山食うぜ！
As I cannot drink any alcohol, so I cannot taste the great beers of Germany. Damn! But I eat lots of sausages!
で、以前に紹介したけどドイツ人は、特に北部では生の豚肉のミンチをパンに塗って食べるのだ！
I wrote the same last year but I must write it again. Here in northern part of Germany, it's common to have row minced pork! They put that on a slice of bread just like butter! I like it vet much! It's very tasty.
生の豚肉、っていうと日本では細菌とかで食べられないけど(特別に無菌じょうたいで飼育された豚は別だけどお高い万円)、こちらでは一般的！ワシも大好物！
In Japan, it's unimaginable to have row pork even though we eat row fish!
更に生豚のソーセージまで！
I was surprised to see row pork sausages!!!
これも美味い！
They wee yummy too!
みんなでワイワイ、12時過ぎまで。
We had a good time till late!
ヴィルフレッドとエレナにお礼をいってお暇。フレッドとアンドレアを乗せてワシが運転。
We thanked Wilfried and Elena for inviting us. Then I drove Friedel and Andrea safely home!
さて、バッテリーも再充電されていることだし、またエスペランサの再始動を試みる。
Now the battery was fully recharged! I must try to restart the engine of Esperanza.
何回かセルを回すけど、なかなかかからない…。
I pressed the starter, but she wasn't starting up so easily...
が、しかし、遂にかかった！
But finally she woke up!
アクセルを開けてしばらくレブをあげる。冷えたエンジンには良く無いんだけど一回エンジンを回さないとしょうがない。
I opened the throttle a bit to keep the rev high not to stole the engine.
しばらくしてようやくアイドリングも安定してきた！
After while, the idling became stabilised and it seemed to be good!
ヨッシャ！やったね。
Yeah!
これで明日はエンジンが普通にかかれば問題無し、でしょう。
If it starts up normally tomorrow, I should be relieved.
そんなこんなで結構テンコ盛りな一日だった。
It was a busy day!

さて、バッテリーも再充電されていることだし、またエスペランサの再始動を試みる。
Now the battery was fully recharged! I must try to restart the engine of Esperanza.
何回かセルを回すけど、なかなかかからない…。
I pressed the starter, but she wasn't starting up so easily...
が、しかし、遂にかかった！
But finally she woke up!
アクセルを開けてしばらくレブをあげる。冷えたエンジンには良く無いんだけど一回エンジンを回さないとしょうがない。
I opened the throttle a bit to keep the rev high not to stole the engine.
しばらくしてようやくアイドリングも安定してきた！
After while, the idling became stabilised and it seemed to be good!
ヨッシャ！やったね。
Yeah!
これで明日はエンジンが普通にかかれば問題無し、でしょう。
If it starts up normally tomorrow, I should be relieved.
そんなこんなで結構テンコ盛りな一日だった。
It was a busy day!

Frankfurt to Bornheim, Germany (Das Haus von Friedel)

昨晩は12時前に寝たんだけど、相部屋のおっさん(と言ってもワシよりは若い)のイビキがうるさいし。ようやく眠れたか、と思うと早朝4時に目が覚めてしまった。恐るべし時差ぼけ。
I went to bed before the midnight, but a man in the room was snoring so bad, so I couldn't sleep well. Finally I fell into sleep, but I was awake around 4am. I guess it was because of the jet lag...
目が覚めれば、イビキ地獄！相部屋の他のメンツはこの状況で眠っているのだろうか？
Then I had to fight with the snore... I wondered if other guests at the room were sleeping well.
何回かウトウトしては目が覚めて8時まで。
I couldn't have deep sleep, but I managed to sleep until 8am.
宿の朝飯(この宿はちゃんとした朝飯付き)を食べて、フランクフルトの街を散歩。今日は天気がイイ。
The hostel provides free breakfast. It's a decent breakfast! I went for a walk in the town. It was a fine day and a good day for a walk.
まだ寒いか、と思ったけどヒートテック一枚と長袖Tシャツ一枚で問題無し。
I thought it would be much colder in Germany, but I was fine with 2 layers of the long sleeve T-shirts.
この分なら山とかに行かない限りは路面凍結はなさそうだ。
Unless I go up to the mountains, the road surface wouldn't be frozen. If I stay in low land, it would be fine.
フランクフルトはドイツの金融の中心だけあって近代的なビルが建ち並ぶ。
Frankfurt is the centre of German finance and there are lots of modern high rise buildings around.
金融の中心だし、マイン川の畔にあるからマインハッタンなんて渾名もある!?
As it is by the river Main, it is nicknamed "Mainhattan"!
前にも書いたと思うけどドイツには2つのフランクフルトがあり、こちらはマイン川畔だからフランクフルト・アム・マイン(Frankfurt aM)。もう一つはポーランドとの国境近くの街。
Probably I wrote this before. There are two Frankfurt in Germany. One is Frankfurt am Main, and another is located near the border to Poland.
ユーロのマークが誇らしげ(?)に公園の真ん中にある。ユーロはドイツが支えている、と言っても過言ではないのだ。
A huge sign of Euro was standing in the middle of the park. Euro is sustained by Germany.
フランクフルトの旧市街へ。ここ一角しか無いんだけど、まぁ、それでもそれなりの風情はある。
I walked to "the old town" of Frankfurt. It's only around the square that those historic Frankfurt remains intact, but still it attracts tourists.
ヒツジは2回目だね、ここ。
It was the 2nd visit here for Mr. Sheep.
クマは初めてだ。
The first time for the bear.
ブラブラ歩いて10時には宿に戻る。
I walked back to the hostel by 10am.
ケルン行きのバスは午後2時出発だから昼過ぎまで宿のラウンジにてブログを英語にて。
The bus to Cologne was due at 2pm, so till lunch time, I stayed at the lounge of hostel and updating the blog in English.
長い間英語で書くのをさぼっていたけど、これを期に再開。なるべく続けられるといいのだが、如何せん二ヶ国語で書くのは時間がかかりすぎる。
I stopped writing diaries in English long ago (since I left Germany last time!), but I will do it again. I don't know how long I would keep up with as it really takes long time to write diaries in two languages...
やるとすると日々の記事を短くしないと行けない。
If I want to continue writing in two languages, I have to make a diary short everyday.
昼過ぎに腹が減ったから向かいの中華屋にて食べ放題6.80ユーロを。食べ放題だけどタンパク質と野菜を中心に炭水化物は少なめにお腹いっぱいにならない程度でご馳走様。
I went to have lunch at a Chinese restaurant in front if the hostel. Chinese buffet @ €6.80!
I ate moderately even though it was buffet!
最近は身体の管理に気を使っているのだ。
Nowadays, I'm controlling my diet and working out everyday to stay in a good shape!
1時半過ぎに駅前のバス乗り場へ。
After lunch, I walked to the bus stop nearby the main station.
ドラッグストアにサングラスが安く売っていたので購入。6.30ユーロ！昼飯より安いけどなかなかイイ感じ。
On the way, I found a pair of sunnies @ a drug store. It was €6.30 and wasn't that bad at all! So I bought one.
さて、バスに乗り込み、音楽を聴きながら転寝。
I got on a bus. It was 2 hours and half ride to Cologne. I was listening to musics and fell asleep.
バスは16時半にケルン中央駅に到着。高い尖塔の大聖堂が迎えてくれる。
The bus arrived Cologne main station on time at 4:30pm. The towers of the cathedral welcome me.
フレッドの住むボーンヘイムまでは路面電車にて50分くらい。
By a tram, it took 50 mins to Bornheim.
ケルンの市街を出ると途端に田舎になる。
Once the tram left the city, the view from the window had changed dramatically. A country side of Germany was there.
高速バスで走っている時も思ったんだけど、ドイツは平場が多い。森林や田園や牧場や。人口は九千万人だから日本より国土も広く、平場も多く、人口が少ない、となれば空間にゆとりがあるのは当然。まぁ、その代わり冬は厳しいんだけど。
I was thinking while on the bus. There were lots of forests, farms along the way. The population of Germany is around 90millions, so it's less than that of Japan. The landscape is more flat and larger, so in Germany it's less crowded. But of course, here has more severe winter than Japan.
ボーンヘイム駅で路面電車を降りると小雨が降っていた。あ、あの小雨ではありませんよ！雨の小雨です！(最近このネタ多し)
I got off the tram at Bornheim station. It was raining a little, which reminds me of her "Little Rain".
フレッド家まで歩いて行こう、と歩いて行ったんだけど、やはり5ヶ月も前のことだし、バイクや車で通った風景と違うんだよね。
I thought I could walk to Friedel's place, but it was 5 months ago I was here last time and it looked different from when I was riding and driving.
断念してフレッドに電話して車で迎えに来てもらっちゃいました！
So I gave up and called Friedel to pick me up at the station!
5ヶ月ぶりの再会！フレッドは元気そうでどこも変わってない。
It's been 5 months! He seems to be fine and looks the same as before!
早速家に行き、フレッドの愛犬ジーラに出迎えてもらったら、直ぐにエスペランサに会いに！
Once we got to the house, his dog Zira greeted me! Then I went straight to see Esperanza!
カバーを外すと、5ヶ月前のあの日と同じ状態でエスペランサは待っていてくれた。
I took off the cover and she was there just as I left her here 5 months ago! She was waiting for me!
「ただいま！会いたかったぞ！」、とワシ。
"I'm back! I missed you so so much!"
バッテリーを外してあるからエンジンは始動出来なかったけど、見た目的には錆もういてなさそうだし、いい感じで冬眠出来た。
As the battery was taken out, I could not start the engine. But there is no sign of rust. She seems to be in a good condition!

バッテリーも定期的に機械につないで放電と充電を繰り返してくれたのでバッチリ。
He was taking care of the battery as well. Sometimes he connected it with a charger/discharger to keep it in a good shape.
最近、東南アジアから日本に戻ってきてからなんか旅気分がわかなかったのだけれど、こうして愛車と再会すると気分は一転！旅人として、ライダーとして三郎、復活！
Recently, especially after I came back from Southeast Asia, I didn't have much motivation to go on travelling. But I saw Esperanza and it's all coming back to me now!
しばらく居間でフレッドと歓談したあと、夕飯を食べに。
After we had some conversations in the living room, we went out for dinner.
フレッドはお酒を飲むつもりだから、運転はワシ！
As he was going to have done beer, I was the designated driver!
メルセデス・ベンツのMLって言う巨大なSUVをワシが運転！
I drove Merc ML! A big SUV!!
考えてみれば、車を運転するのは以前ここでした以来だな。最近はドイツでドイツ車しか運転していないワシ。左ハンドルで右側通行。うーん、慣れない！
I haven't driven since I was here last time. For last 2 years and half, I have driven German cars in Germany! As it has the steering wheel at the left side, I need to get used to with it (in Australia and Japan, we have the steering wheels at the right side).
アルゼンチン風ステーキハウス「El Loco」にて。ここは去年の7月にフレッドを初めて訪ねた日に連れて行ってもらったレストランだね。
We went to "El Loco" Argentinian steakhouse. Here Friedel took me when I visited him in July.
南米で出会ったライダー2人がアルゼンチン風ステーキハウスで再び再会を祝う！
2 motorcyclists met in South America were having dinner at the Argentinian steakhouse! Excellent choice, Friedel!
今日は2人とも羊肉のステーキ「ロモ・デ・コルデロ」を。
We had "Lomo de Cordero" - Lamb steak.
ヒツジに怒られそうだけど、美味かった！
Mr. Sheep wouldn't be happy but it was yummy!
家に戻るとフレッドの彼女のアンドレアが来ていて3人で歓談。
Back home, Andrea - Friedel's girl friend was there, so we had chat for a while.
まだ、時差ぼけも残ってるし、天気も悪そうなので明日は買い物とかして(ハバイアナのビーサンを実家に置いて来てしまった！)ゆっくり過ごそうかな。
I still have some problem from the jet Lag. The weather seems to be bad tomorrow, so I will spend an easy day.
そうそう、夕方からヴィルフレッドの家でパーティーに招かれてたんだ。
Oh, Wilfried - the friend if Friedel invited me for a party tomorrow evening!
